aahhhhhh....it was a good one!

Our final scrap session at the hall for 2009 - Cassie and I went off with a bang! Nothing like breaking the diet with a couple of glasses of bubbly and a few home-made treats to eat.
Really it was just a lovely afternoon with the usual crowd, doing the usual thing and scrapping up a storm (not like the storm they had in Brisbane thankfully - even though it was stinking hot!). We are a bunch of spunks aren't we? Especially Cassie who had the pose going on there! Takes kilos off mate!
Quite a few of us got stuck in and made a heap of 6x6 layouts for the SCKC. Check out the link in the sidebar there if you would like to find out more. If anyone has made any more, please contact me so I can get them from you or drop them off at the Creative Artz Cottage within the next week and I will pick them up.
Last but not least...the handover. We were so glad to hear that everyone was happy to support Linda and Dilys as they take over the operation of the Sunday afternoons in the hall next year. We're going to set them up with a blog over the holidays and you will be able check in and see how it is all going for 2009. No doubt we will still be seeing everyone next year!

What you’ve been waiting for

Ok we have it from a good source that it's a go for next year, so they have put together a bit of an information piece here until we can get the blog change over happening.

We have calculated the 2nd Sunday of the month. Hopefully this will suit everybody and we look forward to seeing you then. We will post information on the blog (when we have it sorted!!). Please feel free to raise any comments or suggestions and for that we have a Suggestion Box so that we can get ideas of what you would like to see during our monthly meeting, such as demonstrations by local talent.

The News You have been waiting for.......

The dates for next year. Thats right, you have read it correctly. We have had two member number 3 & 4 step forward and take on the "key bearing" duties for next year.

I don't have a photo to put in right now, but keep checking back to see if you know who these lovely ladies are.
I think I just gave it away by posting their whole letter.
But we still want to post a photo, because they are so special to us.

So get on board support them as you did P and I and tell them what you want.
Here's my suggestion, Mothers day is in May, what about a Mother and Daughter scrap session.
I saw one in the CK mag recently. Looks kind of trendy really, and cute.
Rambling at the moment.
See everyone Sunday.
Cassie and Petrina, Linda and Dilys.

Something we might be able to all do on Sunday.....

I've posted this on my personal blog but I know how generous you all are. You might want to help with this on Sunday?

Some people might recall the fantastic effort that Julie Stone and her team put in to help the Southern Cross Kids camp by organising pages for little 6x6 albums. It is super-easy to do and a great way to help a good cause.

Here's a snippet of what Julie said in her email:

If you can help us out by producing co-ordinated pages for an album, here's what we need. 20 pages per album, the albums are 6"x6, with one photo per page and it will be approx 5" x 3.5". The pages need not be intricate, in fact simple is best, with a photo mat, and a journal spot.
If you are unable to contribute pages but would love to help, we would welcome any left over alphabets, ribbons, buttons, stickers and stamps, embellishments that could be used to decorate the front covers of the children's albums. We would be extremely grateful for whatever assistance you can give.

Check out more information on Julie's blog.

thank you friends

We've been so happy to receive comments and emails since our last post thanking us for the time we have given to Sunday Scrap Sessions over the last few years. It really makes us feel good to know that everyone has enjoyed them so much.

Which leads us to some news........we've had some people come forward offering to host some Sunday afternoon get-togethers in the future. What we'd like to know is......are people interested in still getting together once a month to scrap and chat? Please give us some feedback because we would really like to support future get-togethers within the Bundaberg scrapping community.

We've had a bit of a slow response to our last Sunday Scrap Session on the 16th of November. The list below shows who is coming so far - please let us know so we can add your name to the list (and shout out if we have missed putting your name on here!)

Final Sunday Scrap Session

That’s right; Sunday November 16 will be our final “club” scrap session. Due to family commitments, we are no longer able to run the Sunday Scrap Sessions. We do, however, want to confirm that we will still be holding our annual retreat in April (3rd-5th) 2009 at Chaverim. Before the retreat we will let you know our decision regarding the viability of “the club” and what will happen with all our shared resources.

Ok, that’s the “not so easy to say” news over. Here’s the more fun stuff: The details of the final session:

Time: 12.30-4.30

Place: where else but the hall

Cost: It’s a freebie from us to say thank you!

What’s happening: Stampin’Up demonstrator Bronwen Cornish will be joining us mid-afternoon to show us some cool Christmas gift ideas. Bronwen will also have some scrapbooking and card making kits on sale for anyone who would like to do a little shopping.

What we need you to do: If you want to stay on our “NICE” list, you MUST RSVP to us by this coming Sunday the 9th of November to let us know if you are coming. (either petrinamcdonald at bigpond dot com OR mcthorne at bigpond dot net dot au) Otherwise you might just find yourself on our “NAUGHTY” list and end up with a lump of coal for a pressie.

What to wear: Your best Christmas “NAUGHTY OR NICE” outfit.

What to bring: A plate of Christmas cheer to share…even a little drink perhaps? Let’s make it a fantastic social event!

What else? Do you know anyone who is a past or present member of “the club” who we haven’t seen for a while? We’d love to see EVERYONE for the final hurrah! Let’s make this an afternoon to remember.

But wait there’s more…..

The 2009 Scrapbooking retreat.

Look out for blog posts over the holidays – you will find them on our personal blogs (see over on the left) as well as here. We’ll be letting you know where and when you can pay your deposit as well as final payment dates. You won’t want to miss out!

Yours in scrapping,

Cassie and Petrina xx

Christmas is Coming

Our last get together for the year will be in November. As usual well before you have to go to all of your other Christmas Functions. So let this be your first, get dressed in your festive gear and scrap some christmas cards or christmas gifts.

I have updated on the side bar the dates for next year's retreat.
We will be looking for a deposit possibly at this next meeting.
Thank you to Sandra for running the last SSS in October when Petrina was away and I had the ear problem.
I will endevour to catch up on the paper work for that SSS though in November.
Ok look out for our next post about the upcoming event.
Yours
Cass and P
